Nancy O'Dell's initial work in the industry of broadcast was as a reporter/anchor for WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Then she became an anchor in the morning and a reporter on WCBD TV. The articles written by O'Dell in Charleston, about how the Charleston police handled DUI cases in a manner that was lenient, resulted in an investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division. The inquiry led to a stronger instruction for the state's authorities. Ms. O'Dell was honored by the Associated Press with the Best Report of the Year Awards to all media South Carolina. O'Dell then worked for the Miami-based NBC station WTVJ-TV as an investigative journalist prior to joining Access Hollywood in the role of weekend co-anchor.
